Resources and Connections

New Ability Productions believes in the power of global interconnection.

What we're doing may be very important to what you're doing, and likewise, what you're developing may indeed be of benefit to our growth.

The research, organizations and references here have influenced our growth and evolution.  We're committed to increasing our connections and being of value to others.

Research

  • Bellini, S., & Akullian, J. (2007). A meta-analysis of video modeling and video self-modeling interventions for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders. Exceptional Children, 73(3), 264-87. [Results indicate that these procedures promote skill acquisition and that skills acquired via video modeling & VSM are maintained over time and transferred across persons and settings & also meet criteria for designation as an evidence-based practice.]

  • Buggey, T. (2005). Video self-modeling applications, with children with autism spectrum disorder in a small private school. Focus on Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities, 20 (1), 52-63. [The study was designed to analyze the effects that VSM had on children with ASD across a variety of behaviors, including language, social interactions, tantrums and aggression. The results indicated that all of the 5 participants exhibited immediate and significant gains and that those gains were maintained after cessation of treatment.]

Michael experiences autism & is challenged by the demands of attending a large high school.  Handing in his finished homework consistently was one challenge area. Michael's PollyMovie focuses on his homework routines in each of his 3 core classes.  Even 10 months later, his mother reports, "He has turned in all but 2 assignments without prompting or reminders.  He has become a whole new student.  He comes home from school and starts his homework without my prompting,
it’s great."
