....Often when we’re meeting with the focus person (and their support team) for the first planning session, we hear all about the challenges...what’s not working, what they can’t do, and all the barriers to moving forward, whether it’s fear, anxiety, motivation...or possibly the skill has been taught, but there’s been no gain in mastery, much less maintained over time or generalized to new settings. There are many possible scenarios. It’s critical to hear this part of the story, and then facilitate moving on.

The conversation must move forward to re-framing what can’t be done...into what IS the hope, the dream, the next step. It’s about shifting from the ‘no-conversation’ to the ‘yes-conversation. It’s our job to assist the focus person (and team) in identifying the target, often pivotal...next step skill or behavior...in order to isolate and develop the content of their personalized PollyMovie™....
